Our client operates a wholesale business and is the largest wholesaler of their type in the UK and Ireland with an annual turnover of £28m. They own premises in nine locations and will shortly be opening their tenth location in the South West.
In 2002 one of the locations sustained a large burglary and due to a communication problem between the client and the alarm receiving centre Insurers initially refused the claim due to a breach in warranty.
We arranged a meeting with ourselves the client and Insurers legal representatives to discuss matters and after negotiation reached agreement that Insurers would pay the majority of the loss on an “ex-gratia” basis. The company has been with Delta Corporate since 2001.
We made a direct approach to this client in 2007 in view of their trade activities importing and wholesaling coconut and associated oils. The company are the UK arm of a global organisation with an annual turnover of £11,000,000 and business was placed with one of the UK’s top three independent brokers.
The client holds stock at third party food storage warehouses containing composite wall panels which often causes problems with some Insurers in view of their combustible nature. On further consideration we also discovered the client’s existing policy had restrictive warranties to which they were unable to comply.
After conducting a review we presented our report to the client which recommended a consolidation and restructure of their existing policies. We also incorporated additional services not previously included and provided an overall saving of approximately 25% of their annual insurance costs
Competitor: Top 3 independent UK broker.
